Problem with Steam

Hi everyone. I'm in need of help here. I can't connect to steam and everytime I click on it I will get a message 'Cannot connect to steam'. Please someone help me.

Steam always has problems, but I have some tips that might help you.
Try uninstalling, then reinstalling to see if it was some how installed wrong.
If that doesn't work, try redownloading the install program. Could have been corrupted during the first time you downloaded it.
Make sure your firewall isn't blocking steam.
